Quick answer: Larleaf’s clean-touch ink area measures approximately 3.7 × 2.3 inches (9.4 × 5.8 cm). Before ordering, compare that area with the widest and longest part of the paw or nose you want to capture. The complete print should fit inside the ink area without relying on its outer edge.

How to check whether your pet’s paw will fit

  1. Let your pet stand or rest naturally. Do not spread the toes or force the paw flat.
  2. Place the paw lightly on a plain sheet of paper and mark the widest and longest parts that would touch the print surface.
  3. Measure those two marks with a ruler.
  4. Compare the result with the 3.7 × 2.3-inch ink area. Rotate the card if that gives the print more room.

If the contact area is close to the full pad size, plan the position before pressing. A print that extends beyond the ink area will be incomplete, and pressing harder will not make the usable area larger.

How to measure for a dog nose print

Measure the part of the nose you actually want to capture, not the whole muzzle. Use the widest and tallest points of that intended impression and compare them with the same 3.7 × 2.3-inch area. Only continue if your dog is calm and comfortable. If your pet pulls away, shows stress, or has irritation or an injury around the nose, stop the project.

How the clean-touch format works

The pad has an inked side and a clean film side. The inked side faces the included card; the paw, hand, foot, or nose presses against the clean side. When used as directed, the ink does not need to touch skin or fur.

  1. Place a white print card on a firm, flat surface.
  2. Position the ink pad with the inked side facing the card.
  3. Center the paw or nose over the clean side.
  4. Press gently once, then lift straight up.
  5. Remove the pad carefully and allow the print to dry before framing or handling it.

Five common reasons a paw print smudges

  • The card moves: use a stable surface and hold the edges of the card in place.
  • The paw rocks sideways: press down and lift up in one controlled motion.
  • The pet is uncomfortable: pause and try another time rather than forcing the pose.
  • The paw is damp or dirty: make sure the contact surface is clean and dry before starting.
  • The same area is pressed twice: a second press can create a doubled outline; use a fresh card for a new attempt.

Which set should you choose?

Choose the 2-pack when you need one frame and a smaller set of materials. Choose the 4-pack when you want two frames or more pads and cards for multiple keepsake projects. The set size describes the included materials; it does not guarantee a specific number of perfect impressions.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit a large dog’s paw?

Dog size alone cannot answer that question. Measure the actual contact area. It needs to fit inside approximately 3.7 × 2.3 inches.

Can I use the kit for both paw and nose prints?

Yes, when the intended impression fits inside the ink area and the pet remains calm. Keep the inked side facing the card and never allow a pet to chew or ingest any part of the kit.

Can I press harder to capture more detail?

Use gentle, even pressure. Excessive pressure can shift the pad or spread the toes, increasing the chance of a blurred impression.

What should I do if the first print is imperfect?

Let the pet relax, identify what moved, and use a fresh card for the next attempt. Small imperfections can also make a keepsake feel personal and authentic.
